By Terence McKenna
This book is widely considered to be Terence’s best work, either this or True Hallucinations. Many people recommend this book to newcomers to Terence and the psychedelic world because it is rather well-grounded. Terence once said that he originally wrote it as a response to academic criticism, hence why it is structured much like an academic book.
In Food of the Gods, Terence offers a survey of his own ideas, those of others, and the effects/histories of numerous drugs. Upon completion of the book, a reader who is not very familiar with Terence McKenna or drugs in general will find themselves substantially more knowledgeable. Although it is written like an academic book, it is far from dry. This was the first piece of Terence McKenna’s I had ever consumed, and I couldn’t put it down. Now, here I am with an archive dedicated to him and his work.
A very good reading of this book is available on YouTube, and, of course, this book can be found for free where such books are found.
